The work of cleaners has been vital to controlling the outbreak of COVID-19 in Australia and has confirmed the critical role they play in protecting the health and safety of the community.
In aged care it has been revealed that many roles within the sector, including cleaners, have been excluded from receiving the Government’s aged care retention bonus.
More than 125,000 aged care workers, including cleaners, laundry and catering staff, will miss out on the Government’s aged care retention bonus to be paid in July.
Today, on International Cleaners Day, the Health Services Union (HSU) is calling on the Government to extend the payment to include all workers in aged care.
