This is an important eye health information notice from the Macular Disease Foundation Australia (MDFA):
Our thoughts go out to all those affected by the bushfires across Australia. There are many in our community who are being directly and indirectly affected, and we hope at this time that you and your loved ones are safe and well.
While the recent rains in some parts of the country are welcome, the ongoing bushfire smoke and poor air quality may irritate your eyes with symptoms such as itching, burning sensation or watering. MDFA have prepared a summary information sheet (available online) to help you protect your eyes and suggestions for symptom relief. If symptoms are not relieved, do seek advice from your GP or eye care practitioner.
MDFA have developed a handy summary of government and other agencies who are providing essential, support services for those affected by the bushfires.
If you are being treated with anti-VEGF injections, we encourage you to maintain your treatment. If at any point you have difficulties accessing your eye health appointments, please contact your eye care practitioner for advice.
