On 1 July 2020 all casual aged care and disability workers working weekends and public holidays will be paid their 25% casual loading in addition to their penalty rates. For the average worker, this works out to almost $6 more per hour.
This is the result of the tireless advocacy of union members and officials around the country campaigning for fairer pay and conditions in the Modern Award Review.
From 1 July 2020, weekend and public holiday rates for casual employees will be as follows:
Saturday | Sunday | Public holidays | |
SCHADS Award (Disability and Home Care Workers) | 175% | 225% | 275% |
Aged Care Award (Residential Aged Care Workers) | 175% | 200% | 275% |
