Swine Flu Vaccination made available to all Australians over 10

01 October 2009

The Commonwealth government has made available a vaccination program for the H1N1 (swine flu) pandemic.

All adults and children over 10 are eligible to receive the free vaccination.

More than 5 and half million doses have been supplied with the government ordering another 21 million doses. So far the pandemic has caused more than 4700 people to be hospitalised in Australia, with around 13% of these being admitted to ICU. Almost 1500 of those hospitalisations have been in children and teenagers.

The government recommends that frontline health and community care workers get vacinated.
