SA Health Professionals take action

30 September 2009

South Australian Health Professionals uped their fight for a purpose built collective agreement within the public sector.

This is how the AdelaideNow.com.au covered the story:

Health professionals marched outside the Lyell McEwin Hospital, at Elizabeth Vale, on Wednesday in a show of solidarity.

The mass gathering of more than 200 union members from across the state, which comes ahead of negotiations for a new enterprise agreement, is calling for an agreement separate to that being negotiated between the state government and the general public service.

HSU secretary Jorge Navas said health professionals needed a tailor made agreement which reflected the specialised nature of their work, similar to that available to doctors and nurses.

"Patience is running thin and time is running out - health professionals in all conscience cannot sit silent while the health of South Australians is put at risk ... We will continue to take action until we get a break through."
