New Modern Award for Health Professionals and Health Support Workers

Today the Full Bench of the Australian Industrial Relations Commission made a new modern award for Health Professionals and Health Support Workers in the federal industrial relations sysytem.
The new modern award builds on the National Employment Standards to provide the new safety net rates of pay and conditions and sets the basis for new bargaining under Labor's new industrial relations system.
The Award groups workers into two categories; Support Services employees and Health Professional employees. The Award provides for the Health Industry (excluding the Aged Care Industry) and the occupational minimum wages and conditions for all Health Professionals regardless of the industry they are working in.
The new modern award commences on 1 January 2010.
