Created to take a stand against the greatest threat our planet has ever faced, Earth Hour uses the simple action of turning off the lights for one hour to deliver a powerful message about the need for action on global warming.

Last year, 50 million people in 370 cities and towns, in more than 35 countries worldwide switched off their lights for Earth Hour.
This year, at 8.30pm on the 28 March, 2009 it is hoped that one billion people in 1000 cities worldwide will unite and switch off for Earth Hour.
Beyond turning off your lights for one hour at 8.30pm on 28 March 2009, there are lots of things you can do to make Earth Hour 2009 an even greater success.
