They will go further29 October 2007Before the last election, John Howard and Peter Costello didn't say anything about their radical plans to change Australia's workplace laws. But once they got elected it was a different story. They introduced their WorkChoices IR laws to help big business even though they knew it would hurt working families. And the Liberals want to go even further with their IR changes. Joe Hockey (Workplace Relations Mininster) say Unions aren't releavant. The Government wants more and more people on AWAs where the negotiations are individual workers and the bosses only. The Government's own planning papers document it. Read more about it here. Peter Costello wants a future Liberal Government to consider scrapping unfair dismal protections for all workers - including those in businesses with more than 100 staff. In an interview with ABL Magazine in July, Mr Costello was talking about unfair dismissal rights, he said, if "people were to say ... it should be extended to all companies I would be very open to the idea." And the list of Government Ministers wanting to go further just goes on and on. Can you trust them with your vote? |
