Ads Continue Campaign Against New IR Laws

19 June 2006

Last week the ACTU launched a second round of television advertising as part of the campaign against the new IR laws in the lead up to, and following, the week of action next week.

ACTU Secretary, Gret Combet, said "John Howard's IR laws have led to a rash of unfair sackings and changes to work contracts that have substantially cut the take home pay and employment conditions of many workers."

"Many families are struggling to keep their heads above water and the Howard Government's IR laws have reduced their job security and put their livelihoods at risk."

There are two series of ads, the first are real people who have been directly affected by the new IR laws talking about their own experiences.

The ads are funded with contributions by unions and community members; to support the campaign against the new IR laws by keeping the ads on as long as possible, you can donate to the advertising fund.

The advertising is part of the broader campaign against the new IR laws which will also include work rights rallies in all major and many regional centres on 28th June, 2006. For details of these rallies contact your local branch or click here for the recent reminder.
