Coalition promises $5 million for Bunbury

30 January 2005

A Coalition Government would provide $5 million to upgrade Bunbury Hospital’s surgery facilities, delivering improved health services for people in the Greater Bunbury area, Opposition Leader Colin Barnett announced today.

Mr Barnett said the upgrade would ensure Bunbury residents had access to one of the most modern hospitals in the State.

"The Coalition will provide $5 million in its first term to build two new theatres and a procedure room at the hospital to ensure more surgery can be done closer to people's homes," he said.

He said the rehabilitation unit and the intensive care unit would also be lifted to full operation through the purchase of new equipment and staff recruitment.

The Coalition is also promising to reinstate the Heartsmart program which provides cardiac rehabilitation services for people who have undergone major surgery.
